Jesuit Church · Conversation House · Hotel Darmstädter Hof
The baroque Jesuit church built according to the plans of Tommaso Comacio stood here from 1671 to 1812. When Friedrich Weinbrenner transformed the Jesuit college into a conversation house in 1811, he had the church terminated with exception of the choir. Until the completion of the spa building in 1824, the building complex was used as a meeting point for the bathing society. At the church’s former location, the hotel “Darmstädter Hof” was built from 1827 which has maintained its current appearance since its renovation in 1894. It was a hotel until the end of World War I, then government spa and bathing house, and in 1937 the council then took over the building extending the town hall.
